using your recources and with good craftsmanship

This will help you better make your character.

At this time you should have the vocabulary fixed. If you
don't see a +2, you need to fix the answers for grading.
Let Miss Brink know promptly when you get them fixed.
STEP 3:
Make a sketch of what your design will be...
*When making your character think about these
elements:*
1: What you character does. (ie: job or occupation)
2: whether they are good or bad.
3: Build.
4. Clothing and adornments
5. Body language
Create a sketch or two of a character with the elements above.
Use the hand out to assist you in coming up with a character.
(The work sheet will be graded later in the unit).
Your character can be something as simple as
"Abigail has a cafe, she's been baking since her grandma taught her,"
or as imaginative as
"Trock is a human tree, and he is the guardian of the forest"
Your character design should at least include from the torso up. You may want to include the whole body (head to feet) if it is important to show their identity by what they wear.
When you have a good sketch, ask Miss Brink to take a look, and then
you can move on to good paper when she gives you the "Okay."

Begin and work on your character design on good paer.
You may pick from pencil, color pencil, or pen and watercolor.

Study your work sheet and be ready for the Quiz!
OBJECTIVES:
Determine what concept artist are trying to convey in their character designs.
Analyze concept art/character designs.
Define vocabulary: concept art, character design, identity, culture, craftsmanship, problem solving.
Demonstrate the use of resources (observations, life experiences, and imagination) in making their character design, and the use of good craftsmanship.
VOCABULARY:
*Concept Art: possible designs for what something might look like. This is often done in the preproduction of a movie or video game or an
illustration for a game
*Character Design: A possible depiction of what something might look like (often for a book, movie, or video game).
*Craftsmanship: The quality or skill level an artist uses.
*Culture: The collective morals, traditions, and customs of a group of people.
*Identity: Who someone is.
Render: To shade with lights and darks to make something look dimensional
Style: 1) The way an artist makes his work that is visually unique to him/her. 2) A period and genre of art.
*Students need to know these words for the final test.

This splits the face to center features.
Erase the guide lines, and any parts that should not be visible. redraw where needed to "clean up" the portrait. Faces take a long time to learn, keep at it, and you'll get better! Looking at pictures helps. Remember PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!
