Classroom Crests (multi-age)

In this lesson studetns will create a crest which represents their class.

Students will compete against other classes for various rewards, based on desired behavior (cleaning, vocabulary use, listening to directions)

Steps:

  1. Students learn about family crests and shileds which represented groups in the past, and how symbols affect it.

  2. Students submit a "mascot." It can be an animal, plant, object, etc.

  3. Studetns submit a color sceme. Up to 3 color combo which works well together.

  4. Students vote on "mascot" and color submitions.

  5. Studetns take majorty vote and design their own idea for a crest which represents them as a class.

  6. Students vote on final designs.

  7. Winning designs are recreated to be hung in the classroom.

  8. Students will know they will compete for a reward at a later date. This could be a movie, field trip, fre draw time. Teachers pick. Studetns could also vote on the reward they would like.
