Karlstad Portraits (6th +)

Students will study Noregian painter, Crister Karlstad, and study how he tells stories in his art (visual literacy). Students then will make their own painting in his style.
Objective for students: Make a pianting in Karlstad's style. It should have either: 1 Native Norwegian Animal & 1 Person, OR 2 Native Norwegian animals. It hsoudl have a Narrative.
Steps:
Students will be told they will take a risk-free quiz about the vocabulary.
Students will go through a Presenation about the artist, how he tells stories, and the vocabulary.
Students take a review a risk-free quiz over vocabluary.
Students will, in groups, comep up with interpreations of Karlstad's art.
Students will share their tables interprations with the class
Students will make a good sketch of their own Karlstad Portriat
Studetns will use a transfer process onto their canvas
The educator will demo how to use acrylci paints (skin colors, cleaning, brush types, etc.)
Students will make their paitning.
Studets will fill out a worksheet, telling the native Norwegian animal they used, and breifly what their story is.
